🏰 Turin's Palazzo Madama Archaeological Site Reconstruction🛠️

Turin has a wealth of content that surpasses one's imagination… 📍[Museo di Arte Antica di Torino] Located in the 'Palazzo Madama', this ancient building has witnessed over two thousand years of Turin's history. As early as the 1st century BC, there was a city gate from the Roman era standing here. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the gate was transformed into a defensive fortress, and by the 14th century, it had been expanded into a castle. 📍During the rule of the Duchy of Savoy in Turin, this castle was used to receive visiting foreign dignitaries and has seen its fair share of courtly intrigues. In the 17th century, it became the residence of two female regents of the duchy, hence the name 'Palazzo Madama'. 📍The castle underwent extensive renovation, with the facade rebuilt in a grand Baroque palace style, while the rear still retains the simple appearance of a castle. The museum, constructed on top of the Roman ruins, first uses a large hall to reveal the underground palace in a glass-transparent form, showing different layers of ruins. With Turin's industrial design flair, the exhibition design that covers half a wall is truly admirable. 📍The exquisite architectural structure drawings from each different period contrast beautifully with the rough texture of the ancient ruins. Nowadays, we are seeing more and more archaeological site museums in our country that use glass to display ruins beneath one's feet. Especially in the future, more and more urban archaeological sites will be presented to the public in a more modern way. The exhibition design of this site is worth referring to and learning from. #ClassicModelOfUrban #ArchaeologicalSites #TurinPalazzoMadama
