🍰 Turin Spot: GERLA 1927 for Afternoon Tea 🫖
I stumbled upon this place (since most shops are closed on weekends and it seemed to be a chain store). The branch I visited is called La Croisette di Gerla 1927. I guess I arrived quite late, as there weren't many desserts left, so I ordered the remaining orange and mango ones. The interior decoration is not bad, with a black and gold color scheme. Overall, it's a bit pricey but acceptable. I'll post the prices at the end. The coffee was average, nothing special to mention. Orange for 7€: Crispy white chocolate with whipped cream. The filling is fresh orange peel and orange jam. The cream was a bit melted, probably because it had been sitting out for a while. Being the last one, it must have been there since morning. It was okay but not particularly amazing. Mango for 7€: The appearance was like a potato and kiwi, not at all like a mango!!! The same white chocolate shell was very thin and crispy. Inside, it should be a cheesecake, and I guess it was thickened with gelatin sheets. The filling was quite interesting. It was indeed mango, and you could taste a bit of mango fibers. Tart! Very tart!! Just right mixed with the sweetness of the outer layer. As someone who loves sour things, I was very happy! There's also a special fragrance that I can't quite put my finger on. Anyway, I recommend giving it a try!!! Other notes: There's a service charge of 1€ per person. The average cost per person is 10€.
