Turns out Philly has more than one Uzbekistani BBQ spot!
Finally visited this restaurant that’s been highly recommended by many online foodies! Their samsa (baked dumplings) are absolutely amazing! The lamb filling has no gamey taste at all, and the pastry shell is super flaky. There are two types of samsa—we tried both, but aside from the shape, they tasted pretty similar. Their plov (Uzbek rice pilaf) felt a bit oily at first, but the more we ate, the better it got. The rice wasn’t too hard—just the right texture, not undercooked. 🍜 The noodle soup in pic 3 is highly recommended—it’s like a braised beef noodle soup, and the noodles are delicious. Our group fought over this bowl! ❌ The noodle soup in pic 6 is not recommended. A slight letdown: their grilled meat skewers weren’t as good as the other Uzbek restaurant’s—but maybe that’s just my personal taste, since many people actually prefer the BBQ here. The only real miss was their house special drink—it was terrible! 😅 Overall though, apart from the BBQ, every other dish here was better than the other Uzbek spot. Strongly recommend! 📅 They run daily specials Monday through Friday—check the last photo for details. 🏷️ Samarkand Steakhouse 📍 1135 Bustleton Pike #2, Feasterville-Trevose, PA 19053 #PhillyFood #PhillyLife #HiddenGem #Philly #PhillyArea #PhillyStudentLife #PhillyEats #UzbekFood
