UC Berkeley Must-Visit Spots πŸ»πŸ’™ – Your Leisure Guide!

Hey everyone! As a third-year CS major at Cal, I love exploring both on and off campus β€” so I decided to create this guide to help new and old friends make the most of their time here! All recommendations are based on my own experiences and those of my friends. Photos are included in the post. Hope you have a blast! 1️⃣ Sather Tower (The Campanile) πŸ—Ό The iconic 307-foot-tall clock tower β€” a true symbol of UC Berkeley. Open Mon–Fri, 10 AM–5 PM (go early!) On clear days, you can see all the way to San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge πŸŒ‰ Sunset is magical here β€” California skies are legendary, and the view from the top is unbeatable πŸŒ‡ Some evenings offer night access β€” super romantic! ✨ 2️⃣ Sproul Plaza 🎀 The heart of campus life and the historic birthplace of the Free Speech Movement. Always buzzing with club booths, speeches, protests, and concerts 🎢 Pro tip: Come here often during the first few weeks of school β€” it’s the best way to discover and join student groups! 3️⃣ Doe Library & Morrison Reading Room πŸ“š Doe is the main library β€” grand, classical, and very Hogwarts-like 🏰. The Morrison Reading Room (to the right of the main entrance) has an old-world charm. Since Moffitt is closed until 2026 for renovations, Doe has become a popular alternative Great for studying, napping, or just relaxing 😴 Gets packed during finals week β€” come early! 4️⃣ Memorial Glade β˜€οΈ A vast lawn where students play sports, sunbathe, eat lunch, and chill between classes. Must-do Berkeley experience: Bring a blanket and spend an afternoon here! (Just avoid the crowds if you prefer quieter spots β€” more options coming in future guides!) 5️⃣ Hearst Greek Theatre 🎭 An stunning outdoor amphitheater that seats 8,500 people. Hosts concerts, cultural events, and graduations πŸŽ“ Legends like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen have performed here! Even just visiting the structure is worth it β€” but catching a show is even better 🎡 More Bay Area guides coming soon… Stay tuned! Enjoy exploring πŸ»πŸ’›πŸ’™ #UCBerkeley #CalLife #CampusGuide #BayArea #Berkeley #StudentLife #TravelDiary
