UK | Edinburgh’s Spanish Restaurant La Sal

I was brought here by a local Edinburgh friend who said they’ve eaten here several times and really liked it. My impression of Spanish seafood rice has always been incredibly salty (I was scared off by that place in Miami…), but this place not only has a moderate portion size but also tastes pretty good! I think it’s one of the better places to eat in this culinary desert that is the UK. We had a reservation, but since there was no one when we walked in, we were seated immediately. The couple who greeted us seemed like the owners of the restaurant. Not understanding a word of Spanish, we had to point at the menu to avoid forgetting… it was hilarious… 1️⃣️ Pulpo A La Gallega (Galician style octopus) £9.90 The octopus exceeded my expectations. I was worried it would be tough, but it was surprisingly tender. Served with a few pieces of potato, it was a nice appetizer. 2️⃣️ Tortilla Española (The most traditional Spanish omelette with onions and potato) £5.90 It looked like a breakfast item, but I have to say, it wasn’t as enjoyable towards the end (I didn’t finish it). There wasn’t much egg, and although it’s called an omelette, it felt like I was eating mostly potato. It was like a chubby version of the egg pancakes my mom makes at home. Thankfully, the inside had a sort of cheese-like center. 3️⃣️ De Marisco £29.50 The most anticipated Spanish seafood rice! The ingredients were abundant, especially the 🦪, and there was a lot of fish meat which I loved. Although it was still a bit salty, it was acceptable. The portion was just right; it looked big but was actually just a thin layer at the bottom. My friend said they were satisfied this time, ha ha ha. It was a good Spanish seafood rice. 4️⃣️ Churros (v) £5.50 Another highly anticipated dish! The menu said it comes with ice cream, but it didn’t. Just simple cinnamon sugar and chocolate sauce. The price seemed to be around £9 (I think it’s gone up, although the official website says £5.50). But it was delicious, freshly fried and hot. #Edinburgh #EdinburghUniversity #EdinburghFood #EdinburghExploration #EdinburghDaily #EdinburghLife #SpanishCuisine #SpanishFood #EdinburghSpanishCuisine
