UK Food Adventure: Affordable and Atmosphere-Filled Steak in London

Getting a good steak in the UK is no easy feat... While beef is cheap in supermarkets, it's hard to get the doneness just right when cooking at home. Steakhouse prices can easily hit Ā£20-30 per piece, which hurts the wallet. Last summer, when my parents visited, I found this place—it's both cheap and delicious. I came back this time and discovered some new, tasty sides! šŸ– 1ļøāƒ£ **The Signature Steak** Ā£14 The main dish is the steak that shares the restaurant's name. The chef recommends medium-rare (50% done), but if you can handle a bit of red, go for rare (30% done)—I think rare is even better! It’s served on a sizzling iron plate, which looks super fancy. There’s just a touch of salt for basic seasoning, and you can grind your own salt and black pepper at the table. The steak arrives pre-sliced. Each piece might vary slightly, but it’s always delicious! šŸ”„ 2ļøāƒ£ **Sides—Crispy Bone Marrow Garlic Mash** Ā£4.5 (See photo 4) The star here is the creamy garlic mashed potatoes topped with crispy bone marrow. It’s incredibly aromatic, and the potatoes are super smooth! On its own, it might feel a bit rich, but when you scoop some onto the steak—it’s heavenly! šŸ„” 3ļøāƒ£ **Sides—Creamed Spanish Spinach** Ā£4.0 I never thought spinach could be prepared like this! It’s not completely pureed but still creamy, cooked with cream and some mystery spice (I can’t remember what it was, but it’s delicious). It’s meant to be eaten with the steak, and it reminded me a bit of the dipping sauce for hot pot lamb slices. It’s a perfect match! šŸ² This time, I truly realized that sides are meant to be enjoyed with the main course to bring out unique flavors—just like our sweet and sour garlic with meat or cold dishes with barbecue. It’s a universal culinary truth! After the meal, you get three little knife-shaped souvenirs that you can exchange for an ice cream at the restaurant’s entrance. If you don’t feel like eating it right away, you can come back later. We had one and kept one as a souvenir. The knife handle has a small hole, perfect for turning into a necklace—it’s really meaningful! šŸŽ‰ The steak knives are shaped like chef’s knives and are super sharp and easy to use—I feel like I’ll need to sharpen them from time to time. The restaurant has a high-end vibe, and you can stay as long as you like. There’s also a great selection of wines. It’s perfect for a date! šŸ’• There are other branches, so you can search for ā€œFlat Ironā€ to find one near you. Average cost: Around Ā£20 (excluding drinks). #LondonSteak
