UMMA Check-In Success! ๐ŸŽ‰

After being in Michigan for a while, I finally made it to the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA)! ๐Ÿ›๏ธโœจ What surprised me the most during my visit was the incredible range of the collectionsโ€”it was so extensive! ๐ŸŽจ From medieval religious art, to modern paintings and sculptures that catch your eye immediately, to contemporary photography hanging on the walls, there was a little something in every style. When I reached the Asian section on the first floor, I was pleasantly surprised to find Chinese porcelain from the Kangxi Era, and even a square ding-vessel from the Shang Dynasty! It gave me an unexpected sense of familiarity and connection. Nearby, Japanese samurai swords and landscape paintings were displayed, and taking my time to appreciate them felt truly immersive. ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ The Impressionist section on the second floor was one I specifically looked for. There was only one original Monet, but standing in front of it, I was still deeply moved by those soft, dreamy colorsโ€”I stood there gazing for a long while. ๐ŸŒ… There were also two or three Picasso paintings, accompanied by a series of Cubist works. Although some were a bit hard for me to fully understand, the unique compositions were truly fascinating. ๐Ÿงฉ๐Ÿค” The best part? UMMA is completely free! ๐Ÿ†“๐ŸŽŠ Just swipe your student ID to enterโ€”so friendly for us international students. The whole visit took me about an hour, making it a perfect half-day cultural escape. โณ๐Ÿงก #Umich #AnnArbor #UniversityOfMichigan #MuseumAdventure #ArtGallery #StudyInTheUS
