University of Oxford | A Must-Visit for Museum Lovers 🎨
The Ashmolean Museum is widely recognized as the first university museum in the English-speaking world and the first public museum (Public Museum), founded in 1683. 🏛️ The museum currently houses four departments: the Department of Antiquities, the Department of Western Art, the Department of Eastern Art, and the Heberden Coin Room. It displays artifacts excavated from Europe, ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, Mesopotamia, and other regions, as well as paintings, pottery, sculptures, and crafts from China, India, Japan, and Islamic countries. Notably, the museum's Print Room holds over 30,000 European prints and drawings, including works by classical masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Dürer, and Rembrandt. 🖼️ In short, my personal experience was: 🫖 The collection is incredibly diverse—there's something for everyone! The exhibits of plates and various oil paintings are a feast for the eyes. 🖼️ I discovered an original Van Gogh painting. 🫧 The layout of the exhibition halls and the display of the artifacts are both beautiful. From many angles, whether looking out, down, or around, you can see picturesque scenes (I felt the viewing experience was even better than that of the British Museum, haha🤭🤭🤭). #ArtAndSpace #MuseumVisit #WesternModernArt #UniversityOfOxford #OxfordDayTrip #AshmoleanMuseum #AshmoleanMuseumOxford #Museum
