💐 Unlocking the Artistic Corners of Quimper 🫧
Quimper, is the capital of Finistère in France and a representative city of Brittany, often referred to as the "Soul of Brittany." The tranquil Odet River flows through the city, with small bridges connecting both sides. The old town is well-preserved, featuring traditional architecture, exquisite Gothic cathedrals, and rainbow-colored half-timbered houses that chronicle the stories and history of the small town. Quimper is famous for its ceramics, with many ceramic shops lining the streets and alleys, and it is also the birthplace of the French national snack, crêpes. 🍽️ The Quimper Cathedral, also known as the Basilique Saint-Corentin, began construction in the 13th century and is the earliest Gothic building in the Brittany region. The most striking features are the two 75-meter high spires that can be seen from all over the city. The interior of the church is decorated with soft colors, and the stained glass windows are exceptionally beautiful. 🏰 Located in the south courtyard of the cathedral is the Musée Départemental de Bretagne, which used to be the bishop's palace. It now serves as the town's museum, housing a collection of unique furniture, handicrafts, and various archaeological artifacts from the Quimper region. 🏛️ To the north of the cathedral lies the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Quimper. The museum's collection spans a wide range, with the first floor focusing on European paintings from the 16th to 20th centuries in various styles, creating a slightly eerie atmosphere; the second floor is an art salon in tribute to the poet Max Jacob, who was born in Quimper. 🎨 #CulturalAttractionSharing #TravelTheWorld #MyOffTheBeatenPathTravelTips #OffTheBeatenPathTravel #France #Inspiration #FairyTaleTown
