Upper East Side, New York | Greek Beef Eggplant Lasagna
A new Greek cuisine spot in the Upper East Side. Perfect for a solo dining experienceđ„ If youâre a fan of light Mediterranean dishes, this is the place for you. Must-try recommendations: đ Moussaka - A moussaka, please! (Literally, âA moussaka, if you please!â in Greek.) This is how Greeks order in taverns. Simply put, a Greek trip is incomplete without tasting an authentic moussaka; itâs the most famous classic dish in all of Greece. Moussaka is made up of layers upon layers of eggplant, meat sauce, and a thick bĂ©chamel sauce. The top layer is a rich, thick bĂ©chamel thatâs soft and creamy. The eggplant layer, usually 3-5 layers thick, is where the magic happens. The meat sauce layer, which can be made with lamb or beef, is flavored with red wine for an extra kick. đ Poikilia (Appetizer dips) - A must-order appetizer every time I eat Greek food. They offer four dipsđ perfect for dipping with pita bread. Made from Greek cheese and various herb and vegetable purees. If you particularly love one, you can order it alone. My favorite is Tzatziki (itâs amazing when spread on their sourdough bread that they serve, made with Greek yogurt, fennel, mint, and cucumber). đ Horiatiki (Greek Salad) - Overwhelmed by the variety of Greek salads? I just went for the more common one topped with feta cheese. đ Lamb kebabs - Simple Greek cooking methods enhance the lambâs natural flavors, served with large chunks of slightly roasted potatoes. đ Galaktoboureko - A traditional Greek dessert, a crispy custard pie with a rich creamy filling, perfect for ending your meal. #FoodExploration #UpperEastSideNYC #NewYorkHiddenGems #GreekCuisine #NewYorkMediterraneanRestaurant #NewYorkRestaurantRecommendations #GreekFoodInNewYork #NewYorkFood #NYCWorkersDailyLife #WhereToEatOnTheWeekendInNYC #NewYorkLife #HiddenGemRestaurant #RestaurantRecommendations
