Ambiance (5/5): The restaurant is half opened but air conditioned on the inside. The inside is bright, welcoming, and nicely decorated. The back has a bar and there are a few outdoor dining spots as well. We sat outside with our dog! Service (5/5): We came on a Friday evening, slightly before their happy hour ended at 7pm. I asked the servers if I could still order a few drinks at the HH rate and the manager made a manual adjustment since we were only a few minutes short!! I knew from that moment that there would be amazing customer service throughout the rest of my dining—and I was right! We were serviced often and made some nice small talk with Demetrious, who provided us dish suggestions for our next visit. Food (5/5): Every dish was delicious and tasted authentic to the dishes I’ve had in Greece! Definitely will be coming back again. Table Bread (5/5): The free table bread was lightly buttered, toasted and soft. It complemented well with the side of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and tomato paste Saganaki (5/5): The lightly fried cheese came out on a hot cast iron and was deliciously warm and drizzled with honey. It went perfectly with the table bread. Kotopoulo Lemonato $24 (5/5): Upon arrival, a server came over for an additional helping of freshly grinded black pepper. The chicken was cooked to a moist perfection with a light lemon taste. Mousakka $23 (5/5): This was the best Mousakka I’ve had in a while (Comparing it to 2 Greek restaurants in Astoria and 1 in Greece). This is a classic Greek dish that is like a remix of a lasagna and shepherd’s pie. I thought the meat filling was nicely flavored. The potatoes and eggplant were cooked soft and each bite had a bit of everything from the dish. Pleasant experience from...
Read moreIt took me a while to write this review. A couple of weeks ago, I had a very horrible experience with the Host/Manager (bald short guy). I came in to have lunch with my boyfriend and my service alert dog. I bring my service alert dog everywhere; I know my rights. This guy asked me to put her down on the floor in which I replied, shes my service dog and she needs to be with me as close as possible, mind you that this place was empty and my service dog was inside a carrier bag. This guy had the audacity to tell me that I couldn't have a service dog because, according to his lawyer, only blind people can have service dogs. I repeatedly told him that he needed to hire a new lawyer because obviously, he didn't know the ADA laws. This guy made me feel so uncomfortable that I walked out and left because of the stupidity of what he had just said. This guy needs to learn the ADA laws. I even reported him and this establishment to the department of justice. THIS PLACE DISCRIMINATES AGAINST PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. Dont waste your time and your money for an unpleasant experience. The only great thing about this place is a waiter named Americo. He was kind enough to apologize on his behalf. Other than that, I'm still waiting for George to call me back since I left my number with the host/manager whose name I believe it's...
Read moreIf I could give 6 stars I would. Since we moved to NYC last summer, we've struggled to find a really good restaurant. We've tried some good pizza places but that's been the extent of "really good" places we've tried. George's meets all my criteria for 5 stars: excellent value, delicious food and the portions happen to be generous too. And thankfully, it's very close to us.
My 21 month son and I shared a chicken souvlaki platter. It was delicious and perfectly seasoned - the chicken, the pita, the potato fries, the side greek salad - everything was awesome. I think the star of the show may have been the tzatziki. My son, who is a picky eater (he doesn't like Mac and cheese or chicken nuggets) LOVED the tzatziki. He couldn't stop devouring it. He literally buried his face in the container of tzatziki and licked it clean. (I had a little and it was delicious - garlicky and with hints of dill or parsley). What makes this 6 stars is that when I brought my son inside the restaurant in his stroller, the gentleman who greeted him asked if he was hungry and offered him a lollipop. I thought that was a really nice touch.
Lastly, while I haven't dined inside the restaurant, they've done a really nice job of decorating it tastefully. It feels warm, inviting, comfortable, sophisticated but...
