Nestled halfway up the mountains along the route to Islamabad, Hunza Valley is a stunning oasis framed by snow-capped peaks. Earth-toned cliffs give way to lush greenery, with houses and hotels cascading down the slopes like staircases—each turn revealing hidden cafés and surprises. 🚐 Getting There By Van: From the main street, take a local van (fare unknown—we hitchhiked!). Locals are incredibly friendly; many will stop to offer rides. Just show them a photo of Baltit Fort, and they’ll get you close, even if it’s not entirely on their way. 🏨 Stay Overnight Hotels for Every Budget: We checked one luxury option (~15,000 PKR/night)—worth it for waking up to panoramic views of peaks, gorges, and rivers right outside your door. 🚶♂️ The Descent By Van: Shared vans run along the main road. On Foot: We chose to hike back from Baltit Fort (1+ hour). If time and energy allow, walking is the best way to soak in ever-changing vistas. Bonus: Snack on crisp, sweet apples from roadside trees!
