Vancouver Food Adventure | North Van's All-Female Omakase Experience

Just tried SUSHI MAHANA, a newly reopened omakase spot in North Van with an all-women team! 🍣✨ 📍 175 3rd St W, North Vancouver Invited by a friend for their soft opening (not yet public!). Chef highlighted their locally sourced ingredients—only a few items are imported from Japan. At $80/person, it's a steal for omakase! Dinner slots: 5:30PM & 8:30PM 🅿️ Indoor parking available—super convenient. Only 3 groups during our visit, so space was cozy (though chatty guests forced introvert-mode panic 😅). Food Review (Honest Take!): 1️⃣ Soup: Thick daikon puree—simple but warm. 2️⃣ Appetizers: 3 chilled dishes (meh, except the octopus!). 3️⃣ Ceviche: Spot prawn ceviche—creamy & fresh! 🦐 4️⃣ Sushi: 8 pieces served intermittently. Highlights: Half-cooked shrimp nigiri (BEST!) Toro (buttery smooth) Tamago fail (hard, tasted days-old 😬) 5️⃣ Mains: Black cod w/ pesto (firm, okay) Braised beef w/ mashed potatoes (tough, soy-heavy—skip!) 6️⃣ Dessert: Matcha panna cotta w/ sesame crisp—chef’s kiss! 🍵 Verdict: Solid budget omakase (great for first-timers!), but flavors land at 73/100. Go for the vibe, not michelin stars! #VancouverEats #Omakase #SushiLovers #NorthVan #JapaneseCuisine #FoodieReview #SupportLocal
