Vancouver Island | Victoria Food & Fun Day Trip

While my main goal was wildlife photography on Vancouver Island, I stumbled upon so many cool spots along the way! Here’s my curated list of must-visit places in and around Victoria. 🍽️ Food & Drinks ✅ Red Fish Blue Fish A true Victoria hotspot! We tried: BC Halibut Fish & Chips 🐟 Salmon Tacos (tender fish, great black pepper flavor!) Chipotle Chowder (sweet, tangy, with coconut notes) Portions are generous. The tacos and chowder stood out — fish and chips were decent. Worth the visit! ✅ Yua Bistro (next to Chinatown) A cozy Japanese spot. We went for lunch: Nigiri Sushi 🍣 (fresh!) Pork Tenderloin Oju Box (super tender with yuzu sauce — not heavy at all) Unagi Don (a bit small, but tasty) Lots of side dishes, great value — ~$30 per person. ✅ Murchie’s Fine Tea & Coffee A heritage tea shop since 1894 🫖 — said to be Canada’s oldest! We bought Tieguanyin oolong and Lychee Coconut Black Tea 🥥. Perfect for gifts! They also serve coffee and pastries — ideal for afternoon tea. 🏛️ Attractions ✅ BC Parliament Buildings A Victoria landmark! Free entry inside 🏛️. You’ll find historical photos and real legislative chambers. ✅ Clover Point Park A great spot to potentially see otters! 🦦 Quiet, surrounded by neighborhoods — perfect for a relaxed walk. 🛌 Stay ✅ Abbeymoore Manor Want to experience early 20th-century Victoria? This B&B was once a gold rush merchant’s home 🏡. Full of historic charm — and breakfast is included! 📍 Near Nanaimo ✅ Old Country Market Famous for goats on the roof! 🐐 (We didn’t see them that day 😢) Lots of international souvenirs + food: German Bee Sting Cake 🍯 Dried sausages, jerky, local goat cheese 🧀 Also a British pastry shop inside! ✅ Cathedral Grove An easy and magical walk through Vancouver Island’s temperate rainforest 🌲🌿. Loop takes <20 mins — great for all ages. More hidden gems (especially near Telegraph Cove) in the next post! 👀 #VictoriaBC #VancouverIsland #VancouverLife #ExploreCanada #NorthAmericanTravel #TravelGram #VictoriaEats #HiddenGems #TravelGuide #LuxuryStays
