Vancouver | Joffre Lake: A Must-Visit in Vancouver
If you’ve been to Banff, you’ve been amazed by the emerald greens of Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Vancouver's Joffre Lake is equally breathtaking! 🌲💧 No visit to Vancouver is complete without a stop at Joffre Lake. From the trailhead to the upper lake, you’ll climb 400 meters with an 8-kilometer round trip taking about 2.5 hours ⛰️. There’s a rocky section between the lower lake and the middle lake with a bit of an incline, but it's not too difficult. As someone with a damaged meniscus and fluid build-up, I found it challenging but manageable. The trek from the middle to the upper lake is easier. I recommend bringing a hiking pole 🥾. Start your hike around 11 AM. I saw some people still heading up at 5 PM; they didn’t seem to be camping at the top. By then, the sun was almost setting, and the view might have been less spectacular. Returning in the dark can be tricky with the slopes and rocky paths, which can be quite dangerous 🌄🕶️. I visited Joffre Lake in early January this year, when everything was covered in ice and snow. The lower lake was frozen with 40 cm of snow. Running and rolling on the lake was a lot of fun. Since I arrived too late to reach the middle lake, I just hiked a short distance on the forest trail. The snow-covered rocks made walking easier with crampons on my shoes ❄️🏞️. #Vancouver #JoffreLake
