Venice's Le Campane | A Cozy Haven in a Foreign Land 🍷🔔
After returning from Italy, I’ve been meaning to write about Le Campane —a little sanctuary in Venice. If you’re traveling solo , this is where you can safely enjoy a drink at night (let the owner choose for you!). If you’re with family or friends , don’t miss their delicious food and warm hospitality. Run by a kind Chinese couple in their 30s , this Italian restaurant (just 1km from Venezia Santa Lucia station ) feels like home . They treat fellow Chinese travelers with extra care—chatting warmly, explaining dishes patiently, and making sure everything suits your taste. Their passion for food is genuine. My first visit was on a stormy night after the Biennale. The bar I wanted was closed, but Le Campane’s owner welcomed me: *"Of course you can just drink!"* 🍹 The cozy interior, the owner’s cocktail recommendation, and our late-night conversation made me forget the time. The老板娘 pointed to the bell (campane) on the ceiling —that’s how the restaurant got its name. 🔔 It was the first Italian word I learned after *"ciao."* When I left, it was pouring rain . They walked me to my hotel —a small act of kindness that made me feel protected and warm . The next day, I pre-ordered dinner before catching my Florence train . The chef prepared everything perfectly, and the meal was ready when I arrived. That trust and warmth made me feel like I had a home in Venice . At the next table sat a Hong Kong couple in their 40s—early retirees with passive income, traveling the world. *"Next stop, Germany!"* they said. *"Me too,"* I thought. Some encounters are fleeting, but the memories linger. As I rushed for my train, the owner reassured me: *"You have time. Eat slowly."* 🚆❤️ Months later, back in China, I got a message: *"Are you still in Florence?"* They had moved there too. I miss these genuine human connections . May Le Campane become a century-old legacy . #Italy #Venice #LeCampane
