Victoria's Hottest Korean Restaurant! 🇨🇦🍜
This restaurant was previously known as Kingsejong, a place my friends raved about but sadly closed before I could try it. Today, I stumbled upon its new incarnation—Victoria Pocha—and decided to give it a try. 😉 📍 Name: Victoria Pocha (formerly Kingsejong) 📍 Address: 650 Yates St, Victoria, BC V8W 1L3 📍 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📍 Price Range: $40-50 per person 🍡 Takoyaki ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ These octopus balls are topped with bonito flakes and taste just like the ones you’d find at night markets or street stalls back home. Though they’re on the smaller side, the flavor is spot-on—savory, slightly crispy outside, and tender inside. A solid start to the meal! 🍲 Tteokbokki ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This spicy rice cake dish is similar to army stew (budae-jjigae), with a sweet-and-spicy broth (leaning more toward spicy—not for the heat-averse!). The mix includes: ✔️ Chewy rice cakes (way better than frozen ones!) ✔️ Fish cakes (soaked in flavor) ✔️ Boiled egg slices ✔️ Veggies, sausage, and Japanese gyoza (pan-fried dumplings) ✔️ Korean ramyeon (the kind that stays perfectly firm even after simmering) While the sausage and eggs were pretty basic (think supermarket ham and plain boiled eggs), the broth and rice cakes carried the dish. 🍖 Stewed Pork Ribs (Soy Garlic) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! These fall-off-the-bone pork ribs are braised to perfection in a sweet, garlicky soy sauce. The portion is huge—easily enough for two, unless you’re a light eater. If you’re not into sweet flavors, they also offer regular and spicy versions. 🧈 Garlic Butter Edamame ⭐️⭐️⭐️ A simple but tasty side—boiled edamame tossed in a garlic butter sauce with a hint of Korean seasoning. Not mind-blowing, but a decent snack to munch on between dishes. Final Thoughts? Victoria Pocha delivers solid Korean comfort food with a few standout dishes (those ribs, though!). It’s not revolutionary, but it’s a great spot for satisfying cravings. #FoodieAdventures #KoreanFood #VictoriaBC #VictoriaEats #CanadaFoodGuide 🍽️✨
