Vietnam | Millennium-Old Cham Towers 🏯🌳

The Po Nagar Cham Towers in Nha Trang, Vietnam, were built between the 7th and 12th centuries during the Champa Kingdom (137-1697 AD). As a precious relic from this era, it is an ancient temple complex dedicated to the Hindu goddess Po Nagar, who protects fishermen as they venture out to sea for bountiful harvests—much like the Mazu deity revered by Chinese fishermen. This site, often referred to as Vietnam's version of Angkor Wat, is smaller in scale but rich in history and significance. The history of Vietnam reflects a long-standing conflict between the northern Vietnamese and the southern Cham people, showcasing the cultural competition between Northern Han Chinese influences and Southern Indian traditions. #StartTheNewYearWithTravel #AncientArchitecture
