Ann Arbor’s Punk-Style Western Spot – Tasty Food, Steep Prices, But Menu Fatigue Hits This restaurant has great food, a super cool punk vibe, and solid service—but there’s a catch: mains are pricey (though portions and flavor mostly justify it, at ~$96 per person). My biggest complaint? After half a year, the menu still hasn’t changed—no new surprises for repeat visitors. Here’s the breakdown 😎! 🥢 Apps: Two Must-Tries (Chicken Meatballs Steal the Show!) The appetizers are absolute winners—bold, flavorful, and perfect for sharing: Chicken Meatballs: 10/10, MY GO-TO EVERY TIME! It’s a wild North African-inspired dish—tangy-sweet red sauce packed with strong spices and a hint of heat. The meatballs are dense but juicy, and you slather them on bread with ricotta cheese—every bite is a flavor explosion. I loved it so much, I almost cried (no exaggeration 😭). Hummus with Fried Veggie Balls: Also great! The fried balls are crispy outside, soft vegetable-potato mash inside. They come with hummus and a green sauce (tastes like milder samosa sauce—maybe Middle Eastern or Indian?). It’s rich and bold—perfect if you love heavy flavors. 🍷 Wines: Sea Sun Shines, Taliano Falls Flat We tried two wines, with mixed results: Sea Sun: Delicious! It’s fruity (tastes like grape juice at first) but has a strong kick later—light to drink, but with depth. Taliano: Not my favorite. It’s high in tannins, slightly sour on the tongue, and feels thin (no rich texture). Skip this if you don’t like sharp wines. 🦞 Mains: Spicy Salmon & Giant Scallops (Pricey but Tasty) Mains are expensive, but the quality is there—though they’re definitely heavy on flavor: 🍰 Desserts: Hit-or-Miss (Ice Wine Saves the Day!) Desserts are polarizing—you’ll either love them or hate them: Pairing Wines: Skip the desserts, but do try the wines! The ice wine is crisp and refreshing—pear and pineapple fruitiness up front, honey aftertaste, and not too sweet (thanks to being chilled). The sherry is rich and sweet, with notes of green raisins, figs, berries, and nuts—complex and perfect for cutting through heavy food. 💰 Final Verdict: Will Return Only If the Menu Changes The food is good, the vibe is fun, and the service is great—but the unchanging menu and high prices make it hard to visit often. If they ever update the menu with new dishes, I’d be back in a heartbeat. For now, it’s a “special occasion” spot only. #UniversityOfMichiganAnnArbor #AnnArborFood #AnnArbor #WesternCuisine #AnnArborEats #MichiganFood #FineDiningVibes
