The annual maple leaf season in Japan is here, and I've found 9 famous spots for you to enjoy the autumn leaves. The season unfolds from north to south, with varying viewing periods in each region. π Tofuku-ji One of Kyoto's famous maple viewing locations, known for its beautiful red leaves in autumn. This historic Zen temple has a vast garden and many beautiful maple leaf spots. π Mid-November to Early December π Take the JR Nara Line or Keihan Electric Railway to "Tofuku-ji Station" π Engaku-ji Four must-see scenic spots: Jionji, Suikinkutsu, Kichizou, and a panoramic view of Kyoto after climbing to a height. Among them, "Jionji" is the most famous. π Mid-November to Early December π Take the JR Nara Line to Tofuku-ji, transfer to the Keihan Main Line to Demachiyanagi Station, then take the Eizan Electric Railway to Ichijoji Station π Ryumon-ji This temple is known for its autumn red leaves, with colorful scenery in the fall. The most worth checking in is the red leaf tunnel. π Early November to Early December π Get off at "Sonobe Station" on the JR Sagano Line, and transfer to the Keihan Kyoto Transportation Bus to "Niinoe Station" π Takao Mountain Takao Mountain is a very popular hiking and autumn viewing spot in the suburbs of Tokyo. π Early November to Early December π Depart from Shinjuku Station and take the Keio Line to Takaosanguchi Station π Rurikoin Open only twice a year, one of which is from October to December in the autumn and winter.
