Visited Barclay Prime in Philadelphia | Highly-Rated Steakhouse

A few weeks ago, I had dinner at The Love with friends. The main courses were mostly carb-heavy, and I felt like something was missing. I was craving a place to really indulge in some meat. Several friends recommended Barclay Prime, and my friend and I, being huge meat lovers, couldn’t wait to go. 🍖 The pre-dinner bread wasn’t photographed, but it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I still think the best pre-dinner bread in Philadelphia is from Butcher and Singer. Last time, my friends and I devoured two baskets for three people. 🥪 The Oyster on the Half Shell was super fresh, and the little sauce on the side was the star of the dish. The Tuna Tartare looked really interesting at first glance, kind of like ramen. The taste was average, though. The most impressive one I’ve had was at MOYO in Hong Kong (definitely need to remember that place). 🦪 We only ordered two cocktails, the Metropolitano and the Love Portion #9, because we had to go home later and still needed to send out some resumes. We asked the waiter to recommend something on the sweeter side, and I personally preferred the Love cocktail for its refreshing sweet and sour taste. 🥂 We went for the Porterhouse, medium rare. It was so flavorful and juicy, just as everyone had recommended. My friend and I, both girls, finished the whole thing. It was amazing! 🍖 For the sides, I’d rank them as follows: truffle whipped potatoes, creamed spinach, and Kennett Square mushrooms. When we ordered, the waiter said the sides were pretty big and that one would be enough to share. But when they arrived, we thought two wouldn’t be enough and added mashed potatoes. I guess my friend and I were just really hungry. 🥔 The Black Forest Mousse was a bit underwhelming. It didn’t look great in the photo, and its taste was pretty disappointing. The cherries were too sour, and the chocolate was too bitter. Eating them separately or together just felt off. I didn’t expect to be let down by such a classic dessert. 🍰 I’ve also tried Alphen Rose and Butcher in Philadelphia. I think both Barclay Prime and Butcher are worth visiting. Alphen Rose is a bit less impressive. I’ve been there a few times, and the quality control from the chef seems a bit inconsistent. All three places have great ambiance and service, though. Barclay Prime and Butcher can get a bit noisy, while Alphen Rose is much quieter. 🍽️ #Steakhouse #Philadelphia #PhillyEats #GreatAmbiance #DiningExperience
