Visiting Hatoyama Hall to Meet Former Prime Minister Hatoyama ๐ŸŒธ

Due to work, I had the honor of meeting Mr. Hatoyama. ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒŸ Over the 17 years since I started learning Japanese, I have encountered four instances where Japanese people have apologized in person for the history of the invasion of China. The first time was during my university years in China when a Japanese professor would bow to the entire class on September 18th every year to apologize. ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒŸ The second time was shortly after I arrived in Japan to study. While dining at an izakaya with friends, a middle-aged woman overheard us speaking Chinese and came over to talk. She said she felt it was important as a Japanese person to apologize to the Chinese for the past wrongdoings. ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒŸ The third time was a few years ago when I took Japanese tourists to visit the South Manchurian Railway Office in Dalian. They apologized in the face of the undeniable facts of the invasion. ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒŸ The fourth time was during Mr. Hatoyama's speech. He stated, "The Japanese government must continue to apologize to ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ until the Chinese people accept it. Unfortunately, the current Japanese government is far from realizing this." As a "dove," Mr. Hatoyama and his family advocate "peace and friendship," just as his name suggests. ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒŸ The calligraphy "Harmony is Valuable" behind him was the last piece written by his grandfather before he passed away. #JapanExploration #ChinaJapanFriendship #YukioHatoyama ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒŸ
