Waiting for a Ship at the Mountain Top ⛵️⚓️

📣Breaking news!!! The Halifax Citadel National Historic Site 🏰, the octagonal - star - shaped fortress, is currently offering free admission 🆓! No tickets are needed, the ticket office is closed, and there are no guards in Scottish kilts 💂‍♂️ at the gate. When the gate is open, just walk right in! The octagonal - star - shaped Citadel Hill is a landmark building in downtown Halifax. The British military started constructing it in 1749. It used to be a strategically important naval base for the British Empire, and now it's a must - visit Instagram - worthy spot in Halifax's downtown for tourists. Standing on Citadel Hill ⛰️ and overlooking the entire harbor, on a sunny day, you can see far into the distance ⛵️. Currently, probably due to winter, the roads are slippery with snow and ice. For safety reasons, the staircase leading up to the fortress walls on Citadel Hill has been closed, and salt has been spread on the paths in the courtyard to melt the snow. I've never seen Citadel Hill open for free in winter before. If you have the time, come climb the hill. Before the big temperature rise melts all the snow, take a stroll inside and enjoy a different kind of scenery 😍. #GreatPlaceforSnowViewing #Halifax #Canada #WinterGetaway 🌨️🏞️
