Weekend Getaway in Albuquerque | Travel Plog 🌵🎈

You might not have heard much about Albuquerque, but it always popped up first in Alaska Airlines sales because of that “A” 😉—so we decided to give it a try! As the largest city and capital of New Mexico, ABQ is surprisingly well-connected. Alaska Airlines operates two daily nonstop flights from Seattle on most days, and American Airlines also offers connecting options. The first thing I noticed when booking? Hotels are SO affordable compared to Seattle! 🏨💸 We stayed in Midtown—super convenient for getting downtown or to major attractions. 🏺 Old Town: A compact historic area filled with shops, galleries, and cafes. You can even book a walking tour online! The Mexican-inspired adobe architecture is photogenic and full of character. 🚡 Sandia Peak Tramway: The longest aerial tram in North America (3rd longest in the world!). Buy your ticket a day ahead or same-day. The ride includes breathtaking views of three canyons 🌄, with a guide sharing fun facts along the way. At the top, there’s a restaurant with epic sunset views—totally worth it! 🎈 Hot Air Balloon Rides: ABQ is famous for its International Balloon Fiesta in October, but you can still book a balloon ride any time of year! We took off around 7 AM and floated peacefully for about an hour. After landing, the ground crew picked us up and we celebrated with a little champagne toast 🥂✨—such a fun tradition! Two days in Albuquerque was just right for a weekend escape—chill but full of discoveries. Definitely a hidden gem worth exploring! 💎 #WeekendGetaway #Travel #HiddenGems #NewMexico #HotAirBalloon #OutdoorAdventure #USA #StudyAbroad #Albuquerque
