🌟 Weekend Getaway in Albuquerque | Travel Plog

Albuquerque might not be the most famous city, but it caught my eye during an Alaska Airlines sale—it always popped up first because of alphabetical order! So I thought… why not? ✈️💡 As the largest city in New Mexico (though not the capital—that’s Santa Fe!), ABQ is surprisingly accessible. Alaska Airlines offers two daily nonstop flights from Seattle, and American Airlines also connects through here. The first thing I noticed? Hotels are SO affordable compared to Seattle! 🏨💸 I stayed in Midtown—a convenient location with reasonable rides to downtown and attractions. Here’s what we explored: 🏺 Old Town: A compact but charming historic area filled with shops, galleries, and adobe-style architecture. You can even book a walking tour online! 🇲🇽🛍️ 🚠 Sandia Peak Tramway: The longest aerial tram in North America (3rd longest in the world!). Book your ticket a day ahead or same-day if available. The ride includes stunning views of three canyons, and a guide shares fun facts along the way. At the top, there’s a restaurant and unforgettable sunset views. 🌅❤️ 🎈 Hot Air Balloon Ride: Although we missed the famous Balloon Fiesta (held every October), you can still book a balloon flight any time of year! Flights start around 7 AM and last about an hour. After landing, a ground crew picks you up and celebrates with a toast. 🥂🎉 Two days in Albuquerque felt just right—a perfect weekend escape! #WeekendTrip #Travel #HiddenGems #NewMexico #HotAirBalloon #OutdoorAdventure #USA #StudyAbroad
