Weekend in Berkeley｜Take the Ferry to SF for a Perfect City Walk 🌉🚢

The easiest way to have fun from Berkeley? Go to San Francisco! Last weekend, my sister (who lives in Oakland) took me and my roommate on a ferry to SF — and we accidentally discovered the perfect city walk route! 📍 Step 1: Oakland Inner Harbor We took the bus (Berkeley student ID = free ride 🎓🚌) — about 30 minutes to the harbor. ⛴️ Step 2: Take the Ferry Use your Clipper card — round trip ~$5 💳. Note: They might charge an extra $4.5 initially, but it gets refunded after you tap off! 🌊 Step 3: Ferry Ride (~20 min) The views are stunning! You’ll see the SF skyline through the fog — looks like mini NYC 🌁🗽. 🏮 Step 4: Ferry Building Farmers Market Lucky us — it was the weekend farmers market! Full of fresh fruits, spices, veggies, and flowers 🌸🍋. Grabbed a Blue Bottle coffee ☕ and soaked in the vibe. 🚶 Step 5: Walk Toward Chinatown SF streets are full of surprises — street artists, K-pop dancers (we saw a Chinese girl group killing it! 💃), and so much energy. 🍚 Step 6: Lunch at R & G Lounge A Chinatown classic — even Obama ate here! We ordered: Honey Walnut Shrimp 🍤 Salt & Pepper Pork Chop (must-try!!) Golden Fried Rice with Two Eggs 🍳 BBQ Platter (tofu + beef — so flavorful!) Huge portions — 4 girls spent ~$30 each. No regrets 😭👌. 🛍️ Step 7: Explore Chinatown Labubu has taken over even here 😂! Not much shopping for Chinese folks, but lots of cute, nostalgic shops. It’s bigger than you think! 📸 Step 8: 890 California Street The famous Inception hill! 🎢 Steep, dramatic, and very Instagrammable. Lots of people taking photos — and the light was perfect! ☀️ 🔚 Step 9: Optional Cable Car to Fisherman’s Wharf If you still have energy, take the cable car from Powell St to Fisherman’s Wharf 🚋🐟. But honestly… we were tired by then. Save it for another day! Such a fulfilling day — you get to see both the glamorous and everyday sides of SF. When the sun is out, it’s impossible not to fall in love with this city 💙. Can’t wait to go back when I have no classes!
