๐Ÿ“šThe Helsinki Central Library, also known as the Oodi Library, is a municipal library building located in the heart of Helsinki, Finland. The Finnish architectural firm ALA Architects won an international design competition for the project. The City Council of Helsinki approved the design plan in January 2015, and construction began in the same year. The library officially opened its doors on December 5, 2018. ๐Ÿ“šIn a public naming competition, "Oodi," which means "song" or "hymn," was chosen as the name for the building. The first floor provides a meeting place for citizens and includes a cinema, exhibition hall, and cafรฉ. The second floor is designed for work and hobby activities. The third floor is a traditional library with a collection of books and a youth activity room. The library will house 140,000 volumes.
