🤠 Welcome to the Wild West Cowboy Town — Fort Worth! 🤠
I visited Fort Worth and Dallas in northern Texas this February—about a 4.5-hour drive from Houston. 🚗 We hit a cold spell during our trip, so it was pretty chilly and super windy! 🌬️❄️ 📍 Our first stop was the Livestockyards This is the main tourist area—a historic pedestrian street filled with restaurants, bars, and Western-style shops. Right in the middle stands the historic Livestock Exchange Building 🏢, which houses a small museum (entry $2 per person). 📌 Don’t miss the Cattle Drive 🐂 It takes place daily at 11:30 AM and 4:00 PM. The parade itself is only about 5–10 minutes long and draws big crowds, so grab a good spot early! The best view is said to be in front of the Livestock Exchange Building. 📌 Stick around for the Gunfight Show 🤠 This 10-minute cowboy duel takes place at the far end of the Stockyards Station. It’s only available on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:45 AM and 4:15 PM. 📌 If you’re into Rodeo or bull riding, make sure to buy tickets online in advance. Shows are only held on Fridays and Saturdays. 📍 Day 2: Dallas City Walk 📌 The Sixth Floor Museum – A memorial dedicated to President J.F. Kennedy. Tickets are $25 per person; allow 1–1.5 hours for the visit. 📌 Thanks-Giving Square Chapel – Famous for its colorful stained-glass ceiling. Great for photos! 📸 📌 Giant Eyeball – Located on private property; photo op only. 📌 Dallas Museum of Art – Huge and worth a long visit. 🖼️ 📍 On the way back, we stopped at Cooper Farm – a peach farm gas station 🍑⛽ Highly recommend their peach ice cream and canned goods! Check my previous post for more details. 📝 Final Thoughts: We spent our first afternoon in Fort Worth and the next morning in Dallas. Overall, Fort Worth was way more fun! 🤩 It’s packed with Wild West vibes, live shows, restaurants, and bars—perfect for a full day of eating, drinking, and exploring. Dallas feels more like a typical city—half a day was enough for sightseeing. I definitely wish I had more time in Fort Worth!
