What to Eat Today | 45 North at Sugarloaf, Maine
I’ve been staying near the ski resort lately, so I’ve tried quite a few restaurant at ski resort hotels—time for a little review! Overall, Sugarloaf is my favorite. The hotel facilities are a bit old, but it’s hands down the best in terms of service, food, and amenities ✨. 🌖 SalmonThe salmon was pan-seared until the outside had a crispy, caramelized crust, while the inside was tender and flavorful 🐟. Thanks to Maine’s cold, clean waters, it’s the perfect place for seafood—lobster, salmon, and more are all top-notch. The rice that came with it was just okay, nothing special, but it didn’t take away from the salmon. 🌕 TofuThis tofu was so good—it tasted a bit like “fish-fragrant tofu” (a savory-sweet Chinese-style dish) 🍮. After eating so many high-calorie foods at the ski resort (hello, cheesy fries and rich stews!), it’s nice to have something light and vegetarian to balance things out. Super satisfying! 🌗 Lobster PastaEven delicious Maine lobster couldn’t save this pasta… 😕 I’m not a fan of tangy cheese, and the cheese here was way too sour for my taste. The lobster meat itself was fresh, but the overwhelming tartness of the cheese made the whole dish fall flat. 🌖 Duck SoupIt tasted like a duck version of borscht—tangy, slightly spicy, and packed with black pepper 🍲. The duck meat was totally non-greasy and had no gamey flavor. There were also “noodle dumplings” (my first time trying those!) and a soft-boiled egg with a runny yolk. Hearty and perfect for warming up after a day on the slopes. 🌕 Lobster & Haddock CakeI’ve said it a million times, but Maine’s seafood is unbeatable 🦞🐟. Just order this—you’d be hard-pressed to find a bad version here. The cakes were crispy on the outside, moist inside, and loaded with sweet lobster and flaky haddock. So good! 🌖 Wild MushroomCreamy wild mushrooms served with bread—and get this: it’s an appetizer! 🥖 The portion was so big, I was practically full after eating it. The mushrooms were rich and earthy, coated in a smooth cream sauce, and the bread was perfect for sopping up every last drop. #SkiResortEats #MaineSkiTrip #SugarloafMaine
