What to Eat Today | Sunday River Camp, Maine
What to Eat Today | Sunday River Camp, Maine Just got back from Sunday River—the snow was absolutely perfect, not a single patch of ice! We stayed at Jordan, but the food there was really disappointing. Instead, I recommend staying at Grand Summit: it’s also a ski-in/ski-out spot, way more convenient than Jordan, and the restaurants inside are so much better! 🌕 Maine Blueberry SodaHow can you visit Maine without trying blueberry soda?! It’s a total must-try—most restaurants here should have it on the menu. It’s light, subtly sweet, and bursts with fresh blueberry flavor, making it the perfect refreshment after a day on the slopes. 🌕 Complimentary BreadI’m highlighting the pre-meal bread separately this time, and for good reason—it’s served with blueberry butter! I’d never tasted butter like this before, and it was such a nice surprise. The rich, creamy butter has a gentle blueberry sweetness that pairs perfectly with warm, crusty bread—definitely a standout. 🌖 Lobster SoupFun fact: Maine’s colder waters mean its seafood is top-tier in quality. While Maine lobsters are famous for their high yield and export popularity, let’s be real—when it comes to lobster, Maine does it best. This lobster soup is a prime example: it’s packed with tender lobster chunks, and the broth tastes like pure, fresh seawater goodness—warm, savory, and totally comforting after skiing. 🌕 MonkfishThis was another first for me—I’d never had monkfish before, and it didn’t disappoint! The fish itself is firm, flaky, and mild, and it’s served with a lobster sauce that’s actually loaded with lobster. The sauce is rich and creamy, with a luxurious seafood flavor that elevates the monkfish perfectly. A total highlight of the meal! 🌗 MeatloafThis one was a letdown, unfortunately. Made with a mix of pork, beef, and veal, it had a slight gamy aftertaste that was off-putting. It lacked depth in flavor and felt a bit dry compared to the other dishes—not recommended. #Skiing #Maine #MaineLobster #SkiTripEats
