Where to Go for a Weekend in Texas|San Antonio

Living in Houston, San Antonio is about a 2.5-hour drive away—perfect for a weekend getaway! 🚗💨 This trip introduced me to some cool new spots for food, drinks, and relaxation, ideal for anyone looking to unwind and indulge. 1️⃣ Tokyo Cowboy – A newly opened restaurant + bar tucked behind the Riverwalk. Their cocktail menu is unique—don’t miss the Six Demon Bag, a baijiu-based cocktail served in a lucky cat cup 🍶🐱! Made with Ming River (a U.S. brand of Luzhou Laojiao) and pineapple juice, it’s surprisingly well-balanced. 2️⃣ Thompson by Hyatt Hotel – A taste of five-star luxury at the quieter end of the Riverwalk. Moon's Daughters on the 20th floor is the city’s only true rooftop restaurant/bar. The vibe is lively at night, and the views are great 🌃✨, but the drinks we tried were just okay. Reservations recommended for dining. The 4th-floor pool is lovely, with a gentle breeze that feels so relaxing 🏊♀️💨. They even offer Saturday morning yoga by the pool! 🧘♀️☀️ 3️⃣ Pearl Historic District – A trendy outdoor hub popular with young crowds. Saturday mornings feature a bustling farmers market 🥦🍅, with vendors even from Austin! The former brewery gives the area a cool industrial look—super unique and photogenic 📸. We saw lots of graduation photos being taken here! 4️⃣ Devils River / Maverick Distillery – Local Texas distilleries with two locations close to downtown. Great for tours and tastings 🥃🔍. 5️⃣ Elsewhere – A popular biergarten (beer garden) along the Riverwalk. Known for their White Claw Margarita 🍹, and they have hanging chairs by the water—perfect for people-watching! 6️⃣ Pizza food truck next to Hyatt Regency – Features a professional wood-fired oven in the truck. Seriously delicious pizza! 🍕🔥 7️⃣ Rosario's – A Mexican restaurant that’s way tastier than most Riverwalk spots. Don’t miss their variety of margaritas! 🌮🍸 8️⃣ Con Huevos Tacos – A local-recommended breakfast spot serving amazing breakfast tacos 🌮☀️. Every flavor is a winner! 9️⃣ Palmetto State Park – A pleasant surprise on the way back to Houston. The overlook offers stunning views! 🌳🌄 #SanAntonio #GreatValueHotels
