Winding all the way to the home of the sun - totally worth it!
š The sea of clouds at sunset and the galaxy in Haleakala National Park are truly breathtaking!! Itās so beautiful, but the wind at the summit is really strong too š„¶ š§£ I was such a dummy for wearing a beach skirt up there, I was so cold I was clueless! The tourists around me were all wrapped in blankets, ready for the āendurance battleā of the sunset! š Haleakala National Park in Hawaii is considered one of the most moon-like surfaces on Earth. The drive up involved countless twists and turns. It was overcast at the foot and the middle of the mountain, but it cleared up to a delightful sunny day as we neared the top! The landscape on both sides of the road is barren, making it very spectacular. ⨠Itās also a stargazing haven. With its dry, stable, and transparent atmosphere, high altitude, and distance from the light pollution of big cities, it has long become a paradise for astronomical observation. š The U.S. Department of Defense, the University of Hawaii, the U.S. Air Force, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Federal Aviation Administration all have astronomical telescopes and other scientific research observation equipment here. āļø Reaching the summit, I felt very fortunate. Flying from California to Maui, Hawaii, is a direct flight, and we can easily arrive; while astronomy enthusiasts from all over the world have to make several transfers to reach Maui Island, just to see the āhome of the sunā (which is what Haleakala means in Hawaiian). I sincerely and strongly recommend it! You must go!!! #Hawaii #HawaiiTravel #Travel #Tourism #BeautifulSceneryOnTheRoad #SeaOfClouds #Sunset #Stars #Astronomy #Outdoors #Camping #IslandVacation
