Windsor Day Trip from Toronto: A Perfect City Walk Itinerary 🚶‍♂️🍁

No need to wake up early—just hop on the VIA Rail at noon, enjoy some music and scenic views along the way. Business class offers snacks and drinks to keep you full and happy. The three-hour ride to Windsor is smooth and relaxing. 🚆🎶 Check in at the hotel around 4 PM, drop off your luggage, and head straight to the west side of the city. Make a beeline for Dillon Hall at the University of Windsor—the oldest and most historic building on campus. The Gothic Revival architecture inside makes you feel like you’ve traveled back in time by a century. 📚🏛️ Next door, Assumption College and its church are also heritage-protected sites in Ontario. Built in 1767, it’s one of Canada’s oldest continuously operating Roman Catholic churches—even older than Canada itself! (Fun fact: Because it starts with "A," it always appears at the top of the database I work with. Finally got to make a pilgrimage to this little property I’ve been maintaining for two years! 😂) Stroll along the Detroit River waterfront and gaze at the towering Ambassador Bridge connecting the U.S. and Canada. With a history of nearly 100 years, it was once one of the world’s longest suspension bridges. 🌉 Seeing signs pointing to the U.S. everywhere by the bridge feels surreal—the border is just a stone’s throw away! Walk back to downtown along the river and enjoy a delicious dinner in Little Italy—way more affordable than Toronto! 🍝🇮🇹 As night falls, take a leisurely stroll by the river, feel the gentle breeze, and admire the lights of Detroit across the water. It’s incredibly relaxing. This quiet little city washes away all the fatigue of the week. 🌃💨 The TownePlace Suites Windsor unexpectedly offers spacious rooms and is right next to the bus terminal. The next day, hop on the Tunnel Bus—just $10 for a one-way trip—and you’ll reach Detroit in about half an hour, with plenty of time to explore. Unfortunately, due to high operational costs and tense U.S.-Canada relations, the service is reportedly ceasing operations this June. 😢🚍 #LearnCreationAtGrowthCenter #Canada #Toronto #DayTripsFromToronto #Windsor #WindsorTravel #ExploreCanada #CityWalk #TravelWithXiaohongshu #RecordTheMoment #Plog #HiddenGems #MyStudyAbroadLife #WorkingHoliday #QuirkyCitie
