Wineries near Cape Town, South Africa
A Visit to Babylonstoren: A Hidden Gem Near Cape Town After wrapping up our stay in Cape Town, we drove for about 50 minutes to Babylonstoren, a renowned winery and farm that many locals highly recommend. Compared to Silo, the prices here are much more affordable, making it a great value for money experience. During our stay, the hotel offered complimentary activities, such as the wine tasting shown in Figure 12. I'm not much of a drinker, so I was a bit overwhelmed by the end of the tasting. The sommelier even joked that we couldn't leave until we finished our glasses 😂. However, the overall quality of the wine was quite good. Babylonstoren is more than just a winery. It features vast vineyards, lavender fields, and extensive orchards with a variety of fruit trees, including pears, cherries, plums, mangoes, peaches, and oranges. We happened to visit during the harvest season for plums and cherries, which made it feel like we were in a paradise of sweetness. Every morning, while jogging past the orchards, I would pick a few bright red and juicy plums (guests and visitors are welcome to pick fruits, as there is an abundance, and many ripe fruits would otherwise fall and go to waste). The accommodation is spread out over a large area, with a well-equipped SPA and swimming pool. All the food ingredients are freshly picked from the farm right behind the property. The meals are delicious, although there is one downside: with three restaurants on-site, one of them is closed in the evenings, and the overall variety of dishes is somewhat limited. ZZ stayed for three nights and had to repeat some dishes. However, the overall atmosphere, service, and environment are excellent, making for a very relaxing and comfortable stay. 😊❤️ I really enjoyed it here and finally felt like I had escaped the shadow of my previous experience at Silo. #LavenderFields #SouthAfrica #SouthAfricanWinery
