Indian Water Tower π At the western end of the park, there is an Indian-style drinking fountain completed in December 1939. π In gratitude for the enthusiastic relief provided by Yokohama citizens during the Great Kanto Earthquake, the Indian community in Japan gifted it to the city of Yokohama. The dome is decorated with glass mosaics, making it exceptionally beautiful. π π Japan-U.S. Friendship Monument and Statue of the Girl Taking an Oath πΈ Built in Showa 37 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Japan-U.S. friendship and Japan's joining the United Nations. βI swear, on my honor, to strive for God and country, to help others, and to keep my promises.β πΊ π Philippine General's Monument π In honor of the Philippine hero who, after the failure of the 1896 independence uprising, went into exile in Japan. πΏ Seagull and Sailor's Song Monument πΆ The lyrics were written by Toshiko Takeuchi and the music was composed by TeruyΕ Kawamura. In November 1979, a monument was erected to commemorate the song inspired by the sight of the setting sun and flying seagulls as the composer bid farewell to her uncle at the Yokohama Port Grand Pier in 1933. π World Plaza π The plaza, elevated 8 meters above ground, offers a panoramic view of the Yokohama Port. At its center is a compass-shaped fountain, surrounded by six landmasses and a semi-circular water flow, with constellations adorning the area, evoking the imagery of continents and oceans. π #YamashitaPark πΊ
