Zahav | A Must-Try for Carb Lovers, Meat Enthusiasts, and Big Eaters
(As a famous Israeli restaurant in Philadelphia with surprisingly few reviews, I’m here to contribute one.) To try their most famous dish, the lamb shoulder (pictured on the cover) The pita bread that was served first was so fragrant that I was already full before the main course arrived, slipping into a blissful food coma. I ended up taking home a huge bag of leftovers. 🤓 5/5: The pita bread, lamb shoulder (served with deliciously crispy rice and grapes), roasted halloumi cheese, and pear sorbet were all amazing. 😐 3/5: The duck hearts looked a bit undercooked, but as someone who loves offal, I thought they were just okay—nothing special. 😤 0/5: The hamachi crudo was a miss—totally flavorless. The main course was Mediterranean sea bream with chili-tomato sauce and green chickpeas. The fish was tender and the dish was traditionally prepared with a clever addition of sour and spicy flavors. The lamb sausage, however, was a bit of a letdown. It used Mediterranean sweet fava beans and pickled lemons. The beans were creamy and slightly sweet, but the lemons lacked a refreshing tang, and the combination with the meaty sausage was a bit confusing and didn’t sit well with my taste buds. Reservations are a must, and there are a few parking spots available at the restaurant for $20. There might be cheaper parking options nearby. 📍 Zahav, Philadelphia #Philadelphia #IsraeliCuisine
