Estación Alemania Salta — Restaurant in Municipio de Guachipas

This charming old railway station (not in service since 1977) now hosts a cafe and a restaurant, with very good coffee and food and a unique setting where to enjoy them. Service is friendly and quick. Located about 100 km from Salta, it is an excellent stop on the way to Cafayate, as it is located at the starting point for the "Quebrada de las Conchas" (The Shells Gorge), a 60-kilometer stretch of multicolored rock formation and a demanding drive. On the way from Cafayate, we stopped by Alemania for lunch. At this point, we didn’t imagine that there was a good restaurant (we weren’t even sure if there is any restaurant). It goes without saying that the atmosphere is nice (using the old Alemania station building), the food was amazing, especially the homemade pasta was one of the kind! Great place to stop and relax for a couple of hours. There is a very nice cafe here with amazing coffee and pastries and they also serve lunch. Very clean, very tasty and wonderful service!
