The food was good but the service was awful. We just arrived in the restaurant and said we wanted to try the traditional food « asado », the waiter directly asked us for the kind of cooking we wanted for the meat, for our drinks and left. He never gave us the menu and considering that there are different kinds of asado and the side orders as well to order, it didn’t make sense. Also, our taxi man went to tell him when we first arrived if we could have a small portion of milanesa just to try. The waiter brought us a full plate of milanesa that we had to pay with the wrong side order (after we called another waitress for the side order). We had to call him back saying that it was the wrong one and then he said that they had no sweet potatoes left. The asado we had was good but we wish we would have had a look at the menu to order another type because it was clearly not enough. We are tourists and we just followed the waiter who basically chose for us without giving us the menu in the first place + the extra plate we had to pay. There was no communication....

Last Sunday night (18th November) we went to the newer El Charrua for dinner because it was highly recommended. Unfortunately I can't speak very highly of our experience there.

My girlfriend and I both ordered salads; when mine came there were holes in the green leaves (looking like bites from a small insect or similar), and then the same for her, except she then had to pick out a yellowish lava that was sitting in her lettuce. We sent that back, obviously, and left pretty sharpish afterwards - paying for everything except her meal, somewhat generously in hindsight.

That night we were both throwing up etc violently, and had to receive a medical call-out at 4am - where they injected us each with buscapina and gave us more medication - so we could make our flight back to Buenos Aires the next morning. I was then toilet-bound / bed-bound for the next 3 days and had to take 2 days off work. This meal ruined an otherwise great long weekend in Salta. Extremely disappointed, and would give 0...

Nice restaurant, more on the high end side Waiters were really nice Ordered medallion of lomo, fries and vegetable salteados .. the meat was absolutely perfect. Cooked very well, tender, juicy. The vegetable were good and it was a generous portion albeit a bit too greasy (too much frying oil). The fries were not cooked enough for chuncky fries .. quite the let down considering the price. Veg feel also a bit pricey considering. Overall a good experience but cannot be a 5* due to 1. Fries 2. Cost of side vegetable

Decor is a bit old, the music is a good level to maintain conversation, and was quite busy when we visited on a Wednesday. Service quick and friendly, but food wasn't particularly impressive. I'll blame that on trying a tomahawk - which has a lot of fat and gristle, and I prefer a leaner cut (although the fat was very tasty!) The house wine (red) wasn't great, but wasn't offensive either. Was given a complimentary glass of limoncello at the end, but thought overall experience was average.

Wanted to have steak initially but ordered the sorrento sirloin escalope dish. It's like 4 medallions of beef and topped with eggplant, ham and cheese with gravy. It also came with some potato balls. It was very filling for 1. Went at 8+ and it was empty. People eat late here. The service was good and note that there is a cover of ARS2500. The 1/4 litre of house wine at ARS3500 is a steal! Prices are not too high imo for such a restaurant.
