This review is long overdue - our group of 10 visited this amazing winery as part of our tour of Georgia in May 2024. We also stayed overnight in their family guest house (B&B) nearby. We had researched the top wineries of the area and made our reservations half a year ahead and am so glad that we did as the restaurant was full the evening we dined. This is a family run winery and they have an excellent restaurant on site and reservations are essential. Located in a beautiful area with breathtaking views, we were warmly welcomed and as overseas guests, we were made to feel like family. The owner himself (Mr Armen) was the winemaker and was present and conducted the wine tasting personally which was a wonderful introduction to the uniqueness of Georgian wines. Dinner was a multi course affair and absolutely delicious - probably one of the best Georgian meals we had during our 3 week tour of the Caucasus. The wines were absolutely delicious and complemented dinner superbly as well as being reasonably priced. The history and origins of the winery were inspirational and the following day (after spending the night at their B&B which was welcoming, homely, comfortable and warm) we hiked to the site of the Old Bridge (Dadal Bridge), an original structure dating back to the days of Marco Polo (13th Century), the namesake of which the winery was named after. Mr Armen joined us at the site and proudly explained his family’s role in the bridge’s preservation. It is located nearby but quite a hike to reach and it was very scenic and added so much to our understanding of Georgia and its wines. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Definitely recommend visiting and staying overnight at their B&B to fully appreciate the area as well as partake in their foods and...
Read moreExcellent winery and restaurant! Be sure to try the trout in wine sauce with oranges and vegetables. Awesome dish, tender fish, insanely delicious.
Friendly staff and pleasant service, as far as I understand, a family business. A wonderful location with a beautiful view in the mountains, great music and a relaxing atmosphere in a cozy interior are included.
It's great to relax after the road and take a couple of bottles of wine with you. Staff will politely offer to try everything and compare before buying. You can order a professional tasting if you wish. I didn’t try the wine in the restaurant itself (driving), but the ladies with me liked it a lot.
It's great that such nice establishments can be found in Armenia! Success and prosperity! We will definitely...
Read morePretty place with nice view of the mountains but awful disinterested service by 2 girls who chatted with each other and really didn't write like having customers to disturb them. wines had nice nose and good structure though unexeptional. we bought by glass, at AMD1500 was scrooge-like, well below the standard 125ml pour. all its prices were comparatively high vs establishments like Areni Wine Factory. cannot understand the gushing high ratings/ reviews . Perhaps was it discrimination against race (Chinese) or budget traveller (we walked from Yeghednazor)? i can't tell/ won't assume. pity. i had great expectations from the...
