Was excited to try Gusman Y Gomez and went for a snack before a night out on the town. We ordered 2 large burrito meals; One beef, one chicken with a serve of queso fries on the side. After a solid half hour wait our food was finally ready (to the staff's credit it was very busy). We first tried the fries on their own. The lime(?) seasoning was unique and a nice touch. Interesting to have a sour flavour with chips but there simply wasnt enough salt to balance it out, not to mention my fries being especially soggy.
The burritos were next and wow. What a disappointment. There is virtally no salad to be found on the burritos nor any guacamole it seems. Im not sure if thats an extra item to be added but i didnt ses it on the menu (there are very limited choices on what you can get on your burrito regardless). The chicken tasted strange, as if it had been cooked in a vac bag. There's nothing wrong with that, but it tasted as though the bag had punctured and water seeped in. It was flavourless, quite dry and "washed out". I ordered everything spicy and the hot sauce distribution was sporadic and seemed to gather in the bottom of the burrito, as did most of the cheese. Very disapppointing.
The worst part of our meal was easily the "queso fries". It was the same under-seasoned chips with a "cheese sauce" that my friend quoted as being "like a bechamel sauce with no seasoning". Not cheesy at all.
For a similar price Zambreros is above and beyond compared to Gusman.
I give this place a 4 out of...
Read moreAbsolutely Appalled at the blatant "profiling" by the large chubby fell6ow. I waited about 15mins for a bucket of chips. Watched about 10 people go up and get their meals (huge bags, full) and wander off happily. Except the old guy he called "love" (Here you go love). That in itself made me very uncomfortable. When my number was called, I checked my receipt to be sure it was and approached the counter. The fellow serving did not hand over my order, confused I said " It's Just Chips", he says "yes" but makes no move to give them to me? So I handed him the receipt, which he took the time to unfold and check the recipt number before finally₩, almost reluctantly giving me my order. Yet all the people before me got huge orders and NOT asked to see a receipt. Now I earn more than the average Joe at $75 per hour, but because I was wearing a Harley Davidson Hoodie (it's comfy) and socks but no shoes (long drive) I was profiled as a suspected theif. My male neighbour had an uncomfortable experience last week with the same staff member, as he was "Etremely Overly Friendly" to him, and felt like he was being flirted with. Now I love Guzman but will not be returning to this one. Also the chip seasoning, "just chipotle, is actually chipotle with ....
Made the mistake of returning, whole order wrong, missing drinks and sauces, spicy...
Read moreThe food has always been fresh in my experience - so no issues there. I don’t like to complain but the only strange experience I had was last night, with the dude serving us our food through the drive thru. I assume it was the manager who appeared to say something to him beforehand, and he started by asking if we wanted any drinks with our burrito - he listed every drink there was to the point where he was out of breath. At first laughed this off as he just seemed like a funny guy. We said no thank you we would just like our burritos, then he said ‘are you sure burritos are spicy and you might need something to wash them down with’ we both laughed it off and said no again. He then kept pressuring us to purchase the churros. After we kindly said no thanks he kept pressuring us saying we needed them as they are worth it and cost ‘bugger all’ 😂 ok but we didn’t want them?? At this point, we both felt pretty awkward and uncomfortable as he just didn’t give it up. We felt like we were being peer pressured into buying things we honestly did not want. This is not how you up sell.. We just wanted to be given our order and go home? Really strange lol. I didn’t want to sound negative but for management - maybe don’t ask your staff to peer pressure customers into extra food when they say no thanks...
