Mok Lee Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Adelaide

We have been coming to this restaurant for nearly 15 years and have always loved the food and service. Unfortunately, since the change in ownership, the experience has noticeably declined.

Our recent order was really disappointing — the curry chicken was rubbery and tasted like it had been reheated, the honey chicken had barely any honey flavor, and the fried rice didn’t taste or look fried. All of the food tasted very ordinary. We were also missing the complimentary curry puffs we usually receive for a large order.

On top of that, the restaurant area looked quite messy when we came to pick up our order, which isn’t how it used to be.

I’m really sad to write this because this place has meant a lot to us over the years, but the quality just isn’t what it used to be. I hope things improve — we’d love to come back if it returns to its...

We ordered takeout last night (23/4/25) The order was delivered quickly and the food was hot! That’s the only positive thing I can say! We have dined at the Mok Lee for over 30 years when the previous owners had it and the food was sensational. When the new owners came in we thought WHY NOT. Sorry to say we didn’t enjoy it and left food on our table. BUT last night we decided to give it another go and as I said it was delivered quickly and hot. We didn’t order anything out of the ordinary but we were very disappointed in the food, to the point that we threw it out. It was very salty and the smell was horrible. Sorry but it needs to be said! I have been eating here for 30 years. The new management have revitalized the place. They are genuine, happy and passionate about their restaurant. In the time they have owned the restaurant, they have kept tweaking the formula and worked hard to make service, culture and most importantly food better. If you have an issue, they will listen and not ignore it. Rare in hospitality. I get the feeling that the kitchen, hospitality and management work with one another here, and that those of us customers who have dietary issues, they are happy to help.
