Mother Cluckers Chicken and Seafood — Restaurant in Adelaide

Upon walking in I was a little thrown and on the fence about making a purchase. This shop is in serious need of an update and the cleanliness leads something to be desired. There was so much grease on the tiled floor that I skated up to the counter rather than walked in. I don't mind paying a little extra for my meal provided that it's good quality, hot and a generous serving size. We ordered 2 hot packs. One quarter chicken and chips with a request for no peas and a combination AB. The first issue we noticed was the serving size of both meals. With no peas one would expect either a small discount or a little more chips in your meal. Neither were offered and while it was tasty, the serving was fit for that of a pigeon. The combination AB consisted of all chicken meat, with what seemed like about 6 pieces of lamb, mostly sauce and where the hell were the chips? There was a small handful of chips buried in the saucy abyss and again, while it was a little bit tasty, the serving size was fit for that of a pigeon and one can't help but feel that we just paid for an excess stock of chicken meat that needed disposing of and we just happened to be the unfortunate victim. In regards to the flavour, of this AB, tomato sauce and garlic sauce do not constitute a traditional AB. Where are all of the other sauces? This is the first and only time I will ever purchase from this business. Very disappointing and I would definitely not recommend them as a desirable...

I first ordered from here just because I like the name. But was hooked from the first meal. The chicken schnitzel packs are fabulous. Good chicken grate gravey and fantastic chips. And even better peas. And today I had to try there cheeze burger AB. OMFG was it the best ad I have ever had.(make sure to add bacon) These house made popcorn chicken is just as good. This place cuts there own chips from potatoes from the Adelaide Hills. And you can tell. There fantastic. I have held off giving a review from a few months now because I wanted to give them a good 20 or so orders to make sure my review was accurate. Everything is good about this place. There customer service is grate. I usually get this guy rock up to delivery food in steel cap boots. Like his just finished a hards days work and still helping the family out by delivering food. Below was my previous review. It seems the place has had a change of management or staff changeover in late 2024 unfortunately. Service is not as good, food takes ages, and chips serving size is about half what we used to get for the same price. I ordered burger + chips and waited over 25 minutes before going up to be counter to ask, the girl at the counter said it had been ready for awhile - but didn't bother to tell me or give me the food..?

---------- review from 2022 This is our FAVOURITE takeout place. We have to stop ourselves from ordering here every single time we get takeout. We've never had a bad meal from here (sometime the yiros is hit/miss but everything else has always been great). Chips are best in Adelaide, best I've ever had anywhere tbh.
