Great price for buy one get one at same price. Nice food great family atmosphere. Friendly staff. I'm sorry to say I went to the slug and lettuce last weekend with a table of 12 and the food took over a hour and half and the staff were not friendly besides the dear who was dishing out the roast. The schnitzels were black the chips soggy the fish smaller and greasy. I felt quite ill after eating there and couldn't even eat any of my friends birthday cake. The roast was the only nice part of the meal. There wasn't enough cutlery on the table, bread baskets weren't put out or water bottles and Yous weren't even busy. I don't think our group will be attending there again we chose you over another venue thinking you'd be faster at service but you weren't.๐Ÿ‘ŽThe staff that were on that day were rude and even overcharged for food that was uneatable. Went here tonight at 6 table of 12 given yesterdays bread rolls. The chip were revolting. Only thing nice was the battered fish. Have you changed owners? Have you changed the cook? Service awful plates and cutlery left on table for 3 hours. Didn't even have a proper knife to cut birthday ๐ŸŽ‚ was given a bread knife to use. Wasn't enough forks for the cake. Going down hill ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž Felt nauseated after eating. Wish Gordon Ramsay went there. A friend said the roast beef was the grossest he's ever had and not enough put on plate your excuse he ordered a small plate for $22 you gotta be kidding you can make a whole roast dinner at that price. Not much on the menu. Not a happy customer at all.

Edit - have revisited, and still a great choice - beef mignon special was very good, with nice sauce and calamari & prawns. Busy atmosphere, but very quick service & meals, which was good given it was busy. Lots of families which is a nice atmosphere. If you like trying different pubs for meals in SA, then you may as well add this as a must try throughout the year, at least once. If you're a local, then either visit the bar or bottle shop, or at least eat here every 3 months to try the menu. Old review: A friend and I visited. For starters, it's the best garlic bread in the State. The steak special was amazing. Scotch fillet with surf n turf and a creamy sauce. Its a cosy but roomy environment and the staff is quick.

Service was ok but the food I chose wasnโ€™t pleasant at all. Whilst my husband had the chicken curry and thought it was ok. But then later had an upset stomach and had to run to loo a few times. My southern fried chicken burger was not. The chicken was stringy, I tried to bite it and I had to rip it off with teeth. Onion rings were too salty, only thing I could eat was Sweet potato fries. Although it looked good on the plate, it wasnโ€™t pleasant on the palate. I wonโ€™t be back again.

Absolutely dissapointing! We have not been to the slug and lettuce for a number of years due to the service and the menu and after some bad experience with the food we ordered. Thought we would give it another go after looking at the menu on line and because my husband enjoys the English beer. After selecting what we thought would be nice for dinner we decided to pay a visit. Well nothing has changed! First off, no English beer! Then given a menu, this menu was over half the size of the one online and didn't have what we had already chosen when looking on line before we went out. We firstly ordered onion rings for entree and they were soggy with oil and for me inedible. Then had the salt and pepper calamari. Again, soggy and coated with oil with oil running all over my plate! My husband ordered a rump steak. When the waitress brought it out she announced to my husband here is your sirloin steak. My husband said he ordered a rump steak and the waitress quickly changed her mind saying it was a rump steak. My husband works in the food industry and can see that it was not a rump steak at all. We both didn't finish our drinks because we were so upset and dissapointed. I understand it is hard with the covid and the problems with food delivery , but how hard is it to make a basic Caesar salad when you already have the ingredients you need when making other meals that have the same ingredients. I should have bought them at the local Woolworths and brought them in for them to use. If I can get them at the local shops then I just don't understand! Im sorry but we won't try the slug again and wont...

my family and I went here on the 6th sept 2025 for a joint bdays and fathers day get together. as it there was a few of us I booked a table the week before. All was good until our food started coming out, which came out in dribs and drabs. by the time the last meal came out, the 1st was finished. they completely forgot to do my mums order, it wasnt even on the reciept, but they did it of course. there was only one main meal that was enjoyed out 10 people. but hats off to the garlic bread, the best. we were all just talking etc as it was a special occasion, with a interstate visitor as well, when the manager or who ever his was approched us about moving to a smaller table (as a couple of our group had left), as they needed the table for another unexpected group. we were asked to move to the raised eating area, my mum is in a wheelchair, ummm are you kidding me? by this stage we had, had enough with the bad food and poor service so we said no, and left. we will never return. they need a huge increase in staff. one poor girl was handling the whole dining area and it was packed. My hat goes off to her. she did fantastic job. they need more people on the floor and more in the kitchen. we have been here on many occasions over the years and its always been average. but easy for my parents to get to. but that was the worst and last time we attend. huge improvement needed. oh and a complaint was sent the next day direct to the slug and lettace no...
