We go to the victory every Christmas Eve.

Tonight we booked for 530 and were told sternly we had to be out by 730.

We arrived at 530 and by 535 we had a waitress wanting to take our order which felt a little rushed.

The restaurant was pretty empty at this point.

Our entrees and kids meals came out together and in a timely fashion.

After the entree we waited almost 45 minutes and no mains arrived.

We watched tables around us who ordered after get their entrees and then mains.

We ordered steak but only medium rare and we saw many other steaks come out of the kitchen.

We asked a staff member and she went to check and came back and said ours would be next, no real apology.

We saw a dozen more meals come out to other tables

We got 3 of the 4 meals

We then had to ask for the 4th meal before it arrived. It took another 5 minutes and was only fish and chips.

Food was fine

When we went to pay we were not asked how the meal was so I expressed disappointment to the man how we felt we were forgotten.

He did apologise at all and just said ā€œsome meals take longer than othersā€

Really disappointed tonight and whilst it was a big night we did not feel anyone cared about our experience, not even offered a drink while we waited...

The salt and pepper squid usually is large mouth watering pieces and delicious with no complaints, however this time what was on our plates was small strips that was definitely over cooked and bland beyond the norm tasted like salty batter no pepper taste at all and when I tried the beef that looked juicy, that was all it was looked but tasted like a wet piece of meat that had all its flavour replaced. The only thing going for it was the chips and dessert which I gotta say was very delicious fluffy, sweet and creamy in all the right ways and the presentation was spot on. Staff were pretty busy but on their toes that day so I can’t complain when they forgot one or two things because they had communication amongst themselves so that everything was still done in an orderly manner, where they served you with a welcoming smile and a delightful attitude.

I hope the reasons behind a change in how the salt and pepper squid use to be made is because of the chef, and not because they are cutting it into small strips to save costs because it is not only cheaper this way but it’s so much more easier to get that...

Our local pub, second time we went after a disastrous first visit to celebrate moving into the area. We were left at our table never to see a waitress. We ended up getting service after we complained and threatened to leave. The food was good albeit pricey and we left disappointed with our local. Well it had been a while since that first little posse to the Victory - so we thought we'd give it another go.

Well I'm sorry to say the service still stinks. We left after waiting 20 minutes for service - this after making eye contact many times with waitresses, bar tenders and anyone else who glanced our way. I'm not a loud person, but frustrated, for the last 5 minutes I stood up on my stool and stared directly at a couple of staff who studiously avoided my gaze. Oh well, I didn't even bother to complain this time - we walked out and will never go back.

Nice location, but a bad experience. I think I'll pour a cold craft beer at home and have me some low n slow BBQ...bit like the Vic,...

It is a really cool pub, located up on a hill. Would be better closer to the beach, but can't really get much better.

Beautiful little gastro pub perched high on the hill. We had a late lunch by the window and couldn’t have been happier. Adelaide really delivers when it comes to food. The cauliflower and leek croquette was the highlight for me. The flavours were excellent, and it was light and fluffy rather than oily and dense, which croquettes can sometimes be. The scotch fillet steak was also superbly cooked (I’m a well-done person) and came with bacon jam, dauphinoise potatoes and perfectly steamed broccolini. We also tried the crumbed fish and chips and the burger. Both were very good. The sun was streaming in through the windows on a freezing day, and we just really enjoyed the whole experience. If I’m ever in Adelaide again, I’d make a point of coming back to the Victory Hotel.
