Donât waste your time. Average food and horrible customer service. We came in and ordered takeaway with the intention of leaving as soon as we got it. We got some of the food and sat down whilst waiting for the rest of our food. Bear in mind the resteraunt was EMPTY. As we were waiting awhile for our food, we decided to start snacking on the food we already had, my partner went up to order some sauce and the lady told him we needed to leave because we ordered takeaway so we were not allowed to sit inside. She was very rude and made us feel very unwelcome and embarrassed. We immediately packed up but had to still wait awkwardly for the rest of our food. This would 100% be understandable if the restaurant was busy and we were taking seats away from those customers, but the restaurant was completely empty and we were all just nibbling on some chips with the intention of leaving to eat by the beach as soon as all the food was ready. Also bear in mind we were a rather large group and had just spent lots of money there. Side note as well, we had just come off a whale tour on which our guide recommended we go to this shop, none of us were rowdy or bad guests as we were all feeling slightly sick from the boat so we were all just sat there silently. Will never visit again and will let all my friends and family know to not visit there either. I cannot believe how rude the lady was, we were all in shock.
Edit to reply to owner:
This is a completely accurate representation of what happened actually. The old lady did tell my partner we needed to leave and the restaurant was completely empty so in accordance with what you said, there really is no reason that we were asked to leave except rudeness. I 100% understand the price difference in take away and eating in, hence why we were planning to leave as soon as we got all of our food. Additionally, we never would have sat down at all if the restaurant was full or if there was anyone waiting for seats etc. So if she had just waited 5 more minutes for us to get the rest of our food, none of this would ever of happened. Just own your mistake and learn from it and hopefully this wonât happen to anyone else. Thank you,...
Read moreOk, so some of you are going to totally disagree with my review and some will agree, then there's those sitting on the fence. This review is based on the opinion of a group of 7 people dining in for lunch - remember, everyone is different!
We went there looking for the old fish and chip shop and found The Colour Patch in it's place. A lovely surprise, and as it was quite a cold day, we opted to dine inside instead of Al fresco, which in warmer months would be a lovely spot to sit. However, upon viewing the small menu, most of us found it to be quite limited in variety but we eventually managed to find something to order. Whilst everyone more or less enjoyed the meal they ordered, the consensus was that for what we ordered, it was overpriced. Due to dietary restrictions, one friend could only order the flat bread which certainly was not ideal. Another ordered the Waygu beef hamburger which at $28 seemed excessive but then there appears to be a trend towards overpricing the humble hamburger or steak sandwich these days. Whilst the burger was nice, it certainly would not have been anything to rave about. This restaurant is very pleasant to be in, there's history of the area displayed all around and they have a very unique bar set up. Yet, whilst our dining experience wasn't awful, it wasn't something we'd return to either. If you are in the mood for, and actually like a bit of seafood ie; oysters, fish, squid, scampi etc, or you like antipasto - then this is for you. They also have a variety of pizzas but when overall choices are limited, pizza isn't always the answer when you can't pick and choose your toppings. A fussy group you might say? But we are still paying customers and just like you, we all have opinions. Don't take my word for it, try it for yourself. It may be the 'go to' place you've been looking for and if so, happy days...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at The Colour Patch on Albany Terrace, and I must say, my initial skepticism quickly turned into a delightful surprise. Being one of the few restaurants in the area, coupled with its offer of a 10% discount for attendees of the Albany Whale Tours, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, my experience with their food, ambience, and services far exceeded my expectations.
First and foremost, the food at The Colour Patch was simply fantastic. Every dish I ordered was a delight to the taste buds. Among my personal favorites were the Roast Squid and White Bean Ham Stock Soup, as well as the Yellow Curry. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, leaving me thoroughly satisfied.
The ambience of the restaurant was another highlight. Situated right beside the picturesque "lake," it provided a lovely view that complemented the dining experience. What impressed me the most was the spaciousness of the place, even during lunchtime. There was no sense of overcrowding, allowing for a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
The service at The Colour Patch was exemplary. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to ensure a pleasant dining experience. Their warm and welcoming demeanor added to the overall enjoyment of the meal.
While the food and service were exceptional, I did find the portion sizes to be a bit small. However, this did not take away from the overall quality of the dishes.
In conclusion, I highly recommend The Colour Patch at Albany Terrace for a delightful lunch after your whale watching adventure. The combination of delicious food, friendly service, and pleasant ambience make it a great choice for a memorable dining experience. Don't let its size or location deter you; give it a try and savor the flavors in...
