Ah, let me regale you with a tale of "The Mushroom @ No. 61 Cafe" in Balingup. Brace yourself for this culinary adventure!
First, let's start with the staff. Ah, the staff, they are simply amazing with they big smily faces and truly charming. Their ability to serve food that leaves you scratching your head is truly commendable. Now, let's delve into my experience with "The Mushroom Breakfast."
I ordered this intriguing dish, expecting a harmonious symphony of flavors. Alas, what I received was a cacophony of disappointment. The bacon, oh, the bacon was so overcooked that it could have doubled as a shoe sole. And the eggs, well, they must have been in a competition to reach the consistency of rubber. The tomato, bless its soggy heart, did its best to contribute to the lackluster affair.
Now, here's a tip for the chef: when serving beans alongside eggs, it's best to keep them separate. You see, when you throw those beans on top of the eggs, they have this magical ability to transform already overcooked eggs into something resembling an inedible disaster.
But fear not, dear friends, for there is a silver lining. The desserts, cakes, and sweets at this establishment are nothing short of divine. They have mastered the art of creating delectable treats that will make your taste buds dance with joy. And let's not forget the cappuccinos, lattes, and chai lattes. They bring solace to the weary soul, offering a delightful escape from the culinary mishaps that befell my breakfast.
So, if you're in the mood for exceptional desserts and delightful caffeinated beverages, "The Mushroom @ No. 61 Cafe" might just be your haven. Just be cautious with their breakfast offerings, lest you find yourself pondering the mysteries of overcooked eggs and soggy tomatoes. Bon...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting the Mushroom at No 61 in beautiful Balingup, and I must say, it was an incredible experience. The pies they serve are truly the best I've ever had. The steak, mushroom, and pink pepper sauce pie was bursting with flavor, and the mango chicken curry pie was a delightful surprise. Curry-flavored pies are definitely underrated, and this one exceeded all expectations.
Not only is the food exceptional, but the staff are also amazing. The lady at the counter even went the extra mile by asking if we wanted the kids' hot chocolate to be not too hot. It's these small gestures that make a difference and create a welcoming atmosphere.

Read moreI eat a pie every other day at the least and have been doing so for almost my entire life. I’m sat on the patio of the mushroom and just finished the steak, mushroom and pink pepper sauce pie. My partner got the mango chicken curry pie.
I dare say this just may be the best pie I’ve ever had. The flavour profile of the pastry - the filling - the sauce and seasonings are to die for. The mango chicken curry is surprisingly on the same level (I believe curry based pies are underrated in general) people if you have been curious about curry flavoured pies this is the one to pop your cherry with.
If anyone is passing through beautiful Balingup wether ending their spiritual journey via the natural worldly offerings this magical corner of the south west has or simply needing to fill the void of a long time on the road - I highly recommend trying one of their pies.
