If we had the opportunity we would have rated no stars for our lunch experience today. We used the Chewzie table scan ordering service to order our meals. Our booking consisted of 6 people and to our disbelief everything we chose off the menu came up as SOLD OUT! It took about 3 choices each to find something on the menu that was actually available. We considered this was just ridiculous given it was a Saturday which should be considered one of the main days for guests eating out. Nevertheless, we continued to place an order from the table Chewzie service rather than leaving and eating elsewhere. When approaching the bar to order drinks, we mentioned to a staff member about the disappointment and surprise in regards to the unavailability of so many items on the menu. The staff member was aware of an issue on Thursday night but wasn't aware that it hadn't been rectified and said he would investigate. When he came to our table to collect glasses, he wasn't forthcoming with any update so we questioned him again about what was the problem with the food availability. He replied that supplies had come in but the system hadn't been updated. We mentioned to him that what had happened was not exactly acceptable and believed some sort of compensation should be considered, perhaps a round of drinks. He responded that he would look into it. He never gave us the respect of returning at all and noticed him departing the premises 30 minutes later. The food we did receive was reasonably good however the lack of follow-up was very poorly handled. We do hope that Bargara Lakes Tavern does take what occurred today seriously so that other customers do not experience the same...
Read moreShocked by the complete disregard and disrespect from most of the staff members in this establishment when asking about gluten free menu items. Most gluten free options in the menu contain mash potato and when asked staff stated that the mash potatoes and chips were not gluten free. When asked to clarify as the menu said differently staff were not able to answer and were “pretty sure” the mash potatoes were gluten free but were less than confident providing a definitive answer to this. Food arrived and the the meal was placed down with chips and when I said I was told these weren’t gluten free a staff member rudely replied “you’ve been told multiple times they are” - she then proceeded to leave the table and cleared all the plates off the table but my own at the conclusion of the meal, with my plate left untouched - clearly avoiding me and being less then pleasant after being a asked a simple question. Staff were asked upwards of six times by myself or other members at the table to clearly explain the gluten free food and each time we received a different answer. We were told the mash potato was and wasn’t gluten free, the chips were and weren’t gluten free and then the chip seasoning was and wasn’t gluten free. Absolutely terrible attitude from staff who didn’t even know the answer and were less than helpful to find out. Double check because even though the menu states a meal is gluten free, it is clear that that may not...
Read moreI really enjoyed our time at Bargara Lakes Tavern last night. We decided to go here after we saw their chicken parmi's online. Suffice to say it, they are worth it!
We ordered two parmi's, one hangover with ribs topper and one cream garlic prawns. Both were fantastic. Chicken was crumbed and cooked well, decently thick, crunchy crumbling and a big portion. The toppings were just as great with the hangover toppings being golden and crispy.
I was also surprised by the pork ribs topper which were only an extra 10 and were pretty good for tavern ribs, though were a touch dry, but still tasty. You could definitely tell they were slow cooked by the tenderness of the meat which I enjoyed.
The only two nitpicks I had were the bugs/mosquitos in the outdoor area, and the size of glass my rum and coke was served in was really small. Maybe the latter is normal though for the tavern/area?
Otherwise this is definitely a great and worth the stop. Really enjoyed the food and staff are friendly. These parmi's are definitely worth a try if you are...
