Big River Tavern — Restaurant in Berri

Absolutely atrocious is best way to describe the food. Firstly the Beef Tenderloin was NOT Tenderloin but scotch fillet, no refund for the difference. Second, the one roast carvery, being Topside, that was as tough as boot leather, woeful frozen vegies, was horrible after waiting nearly 50 minutes. Absolutely the worst experience our family has had in years. By the looks from others around, we were not the only ones.

Well we were served scotch fillet slyly ( with 6 cold chips)The roast was meant to be Roast Pork and Beef, well, there was no pork, also no yorkshire pudding, so much for a choice. Wednesday Nights is SNITZEL NIGHT and they have their large Snitzels (Chicken or Beef) with a few choices of toppings all for only $15. We were surprised at the very reasonable price for such a large snitzel. All of their Meals were fabulous, large, very tasty and come with a complimentary self-serving at the Salad and Hot Roast Vegetables Bar that included Hot Dinner Bread Rolls and Butter - this just added to the great flavours that were already on our plates. What a great idea, we haven't been offered complimentary Salad, Hot Roast Vegetables and Hot Bread Dinner Rolls at any other place and we were very impressed with the size and flavours of the meals plus the very friendly staff and excellent service - even though they had to put up with a couple of Goofballs who were mouthing off and spoiling everyone's night by just being there. This place is terrible. First night here for tea waited an hour to get our meal. Finally arrived mate ordered waygu steak cold in the middle didn't even look like waygu steak... my mate and I ordered half snitzel was tough couldn't even cut with knife. Husband ordered lambs fry not cooked properly blood all over the plate. Food cold and disgusting but the plates were hot how long had they sat in the kitchen. Service was terrible too many kids serving not knowing what they were doing. Daily specials same food served 2 days in a row. Pasta dry and tasteless. Green curry over spiced. Chips cold snitzel dry and fatty chips cold. Very very disappointed. Pay good money for terrible food and service. Get staff that know how to do their job and a cook/chief that can cook desent food. SAVE YOUR MONEY and go somewhere...
