Terrible Experience – Denied Restroom Access

I ordered both food and drinks, yet was still denied access to the restroom. This is not just unprofessional—it’s disrespectful. As per public health and hospitality norms, paying customers should not be refused access to basic facilities.

This kind of treatment is unacceptable. I strongly urge others to avoid this place until they change their policies and learn how to treat customers properly.

Please Don’t VISIT MELANGE BILPIN

Your response is not only unprofessional but also concerning from a legal and compliance standpoint.

Yes, we ordered a drink—because we were intending to sit down and dine. But after witnessing your attitude and lack of hospitality, we changed our mind, and rightfully so. It’s laughable that you accuse someone of being “too lazy” to find a public toilet when, as a licensed venue, it is your legal and moral responsibility to provide access to restrooms for paying customers.

Your condescending tone says everything about how you treat patrons. Instead of apologising or reflecting, you’re attacking. That alone is a clear reason for others to stay away. Shame isn’t mine—it’s yours.

As a licensed hospitality venue in Australia, you are obligated under health and safety regulations to provide access to restroom facilities for customers. We ordered a drink, making us paying patrons, and under Australian Consumer Law, that establishes a transactional relationship with your business. Denying restroom access under these circumstances is not only unethical but potentially unlawful.

Redirecting us to public toilets despite a valid purchase breaches the expectations of service and may fall under discriminatory or negligent conduct, depending on how others are treated in similar circumstances.

Rather than taking accountability, you’ve chosen to fabricate a narrative and launch a personal attack. This only further validates the negative review and highlights the unacceptable standard of service at your venue.

We reserve the right to escalate this to local council and consumer protection...

Our group of 8 were staying for the night at a nearby place on a Saturday evening. We were looking for a place to have dinner and neadless to say, based on the very good reviews we decided to give this restauruant a go. What happened next was absolutely not the experience we had hoped for. After entering the empty premise, at around 5:50PM the lady in the bar immediately asked us "how many are you? and "do you have a booking?" all along with a confused look on her face as we probably didn't look like locals... We then replied that we didn't have any booking as it was just an ordinary Saturday evening and we didn't know that a booking was even necessary. Although the place was empty, we were still told to leave and to go to another place as they could not accommodate our number and that they were short staffed? Who gives that kind of lame excuse at this day and age? If you open a restaurant near a tourists destination then shouldn't you be expecting guests every now and then, and when you do, shouldn't you even try your best to give them good service? Well apparently not in this case. They couldn't even let us order anything for take away! Sad to say that our experience today with Mélange Bilpin has left us with a sour taste. Regardless of the good reviews left for this establishment, this is one destination that I would never recommend to anyone especially if you are looking forward to having great holiday memories in...

A relaxing atmosphere. The service was good. Staff were happy, friendly and helpful. We ordered breakfast, I enjoyed the corn fritters served with halomi, avocado and salad.. delicious. The fritters could have been a little more crisper ( for my liking) as a little soggy with the avocado however would definitely order again. My husband enjoyed the French toast also delicious. Serving sizes are nit as big as elsewhere but neither are the prices. Offered a range of coffee and tea as well as juices. Breakfast menu had the usual offerings and all sounded delicious. Again prices were reasonable. Also viewed there lunch and dinner menu's..not a large menu, which also makes it less confusing on what to choose and they do offer wine pairing. Will definitely return for lunch or dinner. Clean, modern and comfortable. Seating offered inside or on the front deck....

It saddens me to read the negative one star reviews of this venue as after my own experience, I know that they are malicious and simply a misunderstanding from ignorant people. This beautiful, quiet, elegant restaurant is a gemstone. Run by a lovely couple this restaurant provided excellent service, fast food, accompanied by soothing music. The atmosphere of this place is perfect if you are looking for a quiet, underrated restaurant for dinner, whilst still enjoying a fine dine experience. I am truly blessed to have found this establishment as it made my trip to the Blue mountains perfect. I will definitely make an effort to revisit next year. If you are lucky, you may even be able to meet Charlie, the local cat that frequently visits!

My family and I came across this gem on our way back to Sydney - and were amazed by both the quality of food, as well as welcoming atmosphere of Katrina and Daniel. We started the meal with a fantastic cheese platter and warm olives accompanied by delicious pide bread. As a vegetarian, I went with the Spinach & Cheese Ravioli as a main (which was fantastic as well) and finished the meal with one of the best chocolate mousses I’ve ever had. Katrina gave great drink suggestions and we ended up taking a bottle of the vintage cider she recommended home with us for another day. Thank you for a wonderful evening with delicious food - will most definitely return and recommend to friends and family coming to the Blue Mountains region!

My partner and I recently enjoyed a delightful dinner at this local gem, supporting an emerging restaurant in our area. The cuisine was exceptional, leaving us utterly impressed. For starters, we savored the wedges and olives, which set the tone for the culinary experience ahead. The main course featured pork and duck, each dish an embodiment of culinary artistry, truly deserving of a 'chef's kiss.' The attention to detail and quality of ingredients was evident, as if every dish was prepared with love. Our meal concluded with a scrumptious Meringue, complemented by a delectable lemon curd that was the highlight of the evening.
