I am from Geelong and spent the better part of the last two years working remotely and staying in Boort with colleagues.
We made Boort our base because of the Railway hotel for multiple reasons that progressed over time (iconic simpsons reference was a great start). Our first experience was entering the fine establishment with lower expectations, after having spent the preceding months in larger municipalities like Kerang and St Arnaud, entering the lived in club room feel of the dining area did not evolve hope. We weren’t even sure if meals were being served. Going from this expectation to having the best steak of my life, made me question what I know. I’ve fine dined on steaks and I now look back on those memories with mediocre undertones. Not really, but we all have a good idea of where/when our best steak was honoured. Mine was at the Railway Hotel in Boort.
We made Boort our base location, returning for weeks at a time over the past two years. It became our second home not because we were there frequently, but because we were welcomed by the staff and the people of Boort. We ate, we drank, we played pool until the patrons went home which savoured cathartic conversation and the barrage of humour between colleagues and the amazing Hannah minding the bar.
All of this happened because of the steak and Hannah’s friendly welcoming. Looking forward to...

Food was great value. The lamb shanks were tender, Parma variety was amazing and interesting for the Parma fan I am. Irish and ‘Chip’ Parma were enjoyed with a nice generous serving of gravy. From what I could see the pizzas looked great too and I look forward to trying them next visit!
Decor… well it had the country town pub feeling. It was still very clean and neat and that is the main thing!
Otherwise we had a really great evening. Thanks for the...

I messaged the boort community page to ask if anyone in the area was celiac and if they could give me recommendations on places to eat... the lovely Alli got in contact with me to arrange something safe for my son to eat, not only did she do that she came out to meet him and also brought zooper doopers for all the kids at the table for desert, as none of the desert options were safe for my son!. Thankyou so much for a beautiful evening, great food and amazing service . Alli if only more people could be like you eating out with a child with celiacs would be easy. We...
